It’s a stunning piece of work that’s been done by Bosslogic on Instagram. You may recognize that name since he’s made a pretty big reputation for himself making fan art of just about everything under the sun. His work on video game and film fan castings, poster re-works, and fan art has earned him a reputation as one of the biggest genre fan artists on the internet. His redesign of Jared Leto’s Joker makes a pretty strong argument for his talents as well, redesigning a highly controversial look into something that preserves the unique elements, while bringing in some more iconic features from other versions, such as the classic drawn on smile. It’s an artwork that conveys an alternate earth where Jared Leto’s Joker was perhaps more palatable for audiences.

Jared Leto’s Joker had a lot working against him in that original movie, and it’s not entirely fair to dismiss the new interpretation of Joker out of hand. Suicide Squad was a very troubled movie for lots of different reasons, and it’s not that the gangster Joker idea is completely out of left field. In fact, the original comic version of the Joker was much closer to being a gang leader than any of the modern versions where he carries an almost mythological significance as the antithesis to Batman. Suicide Squad was muddled, confused, and ultimately didn’t give Leto much to work with, especially when he was inevitably going to be compared to the likes of Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger.

The comments under Bosslogic’s Instagram post are fairly split on whether they even want Leto in the Snyder Cut, with quite a few arguing they’re more excited about the actor’s upcoming role in Morbius. Will Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League rehabilitate the character? It’s not impossible.
