How To Play Wordle
In order to play Wordle, word puzzle fans must first become familiar with the rules of the game. Here’s a breakdown of where to go, how to play, and a little bit of strategy for winning Wordle every day.

First, players need to head to the right place. There are quite a few copycats and themed clones out there, but the original version is on the New York Times Games site and its Crossword app only. Other versions will have different answers than the one listed here, and they can also have slightly different rules of how to play, like the Pokemon-themed version of Wordle called Squirdle where all the answers must be names of Pokemon. Once in the right place, players will then need to choose a starter word.
Starting words in Wordle are incredibly important as they help players by giving them clues. A good starting word:
Must be five letters long, a real word, and not a proper noun. Should be filled with common letters. While it can contain duplicated letters, these words should be avoided. Wordle answers will never repeat and won’t ever be plural nouns ending in S or ES, so these should be avoided as well.
Once a good word is picked, players should type it into the Wordle grid and press enter. This will cause the letters of the word to change color, and each color is a clue to the real answer.
Green letters are right. Gray letters are incorrect. Yellow letters are right but in the wrong position(s) in the word.
Next, players should try a new word that fits in with the clues given and the colors of these letters will change also. The game ends when players either guess the word of the day or run out of their six total tries.
